Our Love Story

It all started when…

On a breezy summer day, a recent BC grad was chilling with her friend at the Boston Public Library courtyard. The young lady, being her spontaneous self, snapped a photo of a tourist struggling to take a selfie with his female friend in front of the water fountain. What a cute couple, she thought. Little did she know, that was actually his cousin Ana.

She walked up to him and cheerfully presented,
“I took a beautiful photo of you two! Can I send it to you?”
In a rather contrasting deep and shy voice he responded,
“Ok. I do not have a number here. I can give you email.
(insert some Spanish words)”
“uhhhh…no Spanish, give me your email
and I’ll send you the photos.”
So the young man, with a bit of hesitation, surprise, and perhaps confusion, typed in his email and left.
A few minutes later, he came back to make sure the email was spelled correctly.
“hmm.” she noted.

On August 24, 2015, they learned each other’s names through email with the assistance of Lord Google Translate.

*insert long distant relationship, immigration process, humbly learning, risk taking, building new lives and family together*

On August 24, 2019, they got married in Boston and later in Colombia.

The rest is their growing family story—starting with beloved little Walker…
