Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK) GALA '19

Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, short for ATASK. Since 1992, ATASK has been serving as the bridge between underrepresented Asian immigrant survivors of domestic violence and available resources. ATASK made history in MA as the first non-profit organization supporting Asian immigrant DV survivors and continues to operate as the largest organization of its kind in the East Coast.

As a former Chinese case advocate and residential counselor at ATASK, I’ve witnessed first hand the efficacy of such agency for clients during dire times. Many clients came seeking for assistance even when they don’t speak English. ATASK addresses the linguistic needs by providing cultural appropriate care:

  • Shelter: a short-term emergency shelter for survivors of DV as they find their grounding and transition to their new home, free from their past violent household

  • Legal: a highly experienced and skilled legal team assisting clients with the immigration process and navigating the intricate legal system in the U.S

  • Advocacy: a group of linguistically diverse case managers/advocates provides one-on-one assistance to clients in need

ATASK serves as an incubator for survivors to gain their grounding and move forward to build a new life. Want to make donation or know any one in need of services? For more information, visit ATASK website.
